How many do you need?

6-12 small/medium pads and 1-3 large pads are recommended, depending on how heavy your flow is and how long your periods last.

  • Rinse or soak in water after changing pads or while waiting for wash day. This keeps stains from setting.

They do the job.
I bought the small organic pad. For the price I was really expecting something very comfortable. It does a great job, but the "velour" feels like microfiber on my bum. As I'm using these postpartum with stitches, I don't like this feeling at all. I was expecting something more like a regular cotton top. They wash up fine with diaper laundry and snap up easily for storage in a handbag or wet bag. Best to catch on sale.

Slim and Trim
My review is for the Organic style. I have used cloth pads for several years. Until somewhat recently my supply was SAHM made and made by myself in more or less the same design as the SAHM ones. I purchased some of these after my son was born. My first postpartum period was so heavy it was on par with the level of postpartum bleeding I had when I was still in the hospital. My second postpartum period lasted 31 days (I did see the doctor, as I know that's not normal). Anyway, this excitement gave me plenty of opportunity to use my mama cloth and form opinions on them. Pink Daisy pads are the trimmest for absorbency level I've run across in cloth pads. This is the advantage of a PUL/TPU backing. Why does this matter? If you have to wear a larger pad on a heavier day, something like fleece backing can mean a bulky seam that's visible through clothes. I don't like advertising that I'm wearing a pad. These are discreet. That's a good thing, because they're long. The sizes sound smaller than they are. The medium is the same length as most large pads. The large is quite long. I do not have issues with these moving around when I wear them even though the backing is smooth. If your underwear isn't saggy, they'll stay put. Don't wear garbage underwear on your period. Wear good underwear that fits well! It makes a huge difference in how well your pads stay where they need to be and how quickly they wick your discharge away from your skin. The natural fiber top doesn't get super hot (ladies, I sweat like crazy in most disposable pads and anything "minky" and these don't make me sweat). It absorbs quickly and wicks moisture down into the core. If you have a really heavy flow, you know that sometimes... a lot can come out in a short time. It can handle it better than any of my other pads. My one complaint about these is that the wings are LONG, and I don't have a thigh gap, so they create a sagging ring that's big enough for me to stick all of my fingers through. The solution is a second female kam snap on one of the wings that allows for a more narrow fit. I own the things to add this myself, so I'll probably do it when I get around to it, but I would love it if they came that way.
