Nurturing Ways Infant Massage
*Infant massage is an ancient parenting tradition used in cultures around the world that can enhance the bond between infant and parent. Benefits of massaging your baby include helping improve sleep patterns; relieving gas, constipation, and colic/fussiness; improving digestion; and increasing body awareness, among others. Sessions encompass themes of early development and parenting as well as using touch to nurture babies. Classes are designed for infants from 8 weeks old to pre-crawling. Contact the instructor if your baby is younger than 8 weeks old or already crawling to discuss options. Sessions run 1-1.5 hours in length and include materials. Registration is required. Minimum of 2 babies with parent(s); maximum of 4. Class will be canceled if there are not enough registered participants within a week of the first session.
Cost: $70/baby with parent(s) (Contact Yvonne about gift certificates and/or tuition assistance)
Instructor: Yvonne Hiebert, MSE, CEIM (Certified Educator of Infant Massage)
*This class is designed to benefit expectant parents. It is best if families take this class when the mother is 3-4 months pregnant. that way you will have more time to prepare your pets for the arrival of the new baby! It provides a checklist so that you can prepare your animals and yourselves for a change in the household dynamics. Because of new sounds, smells, and activities surrounding a new infant, pets may see newborns as competition, prey, or even a toy. This 1.75 hour workshop includes informational literature and opportunities to ask questions. This workshop is ideal for pregnant women and their immediate adult family members.
Cost: $7 per family
Instructor: Emily Steinwehe, Dane County Humane Society Shelter Educator
